Terms of Service.

01What ClipEngine is
ClipEngine is a service that turns long-form video into short, viral clips with AI-driven smart cropping, captions, hooks, and music. We also expose the underlying media tools (ffprobe, scene detection, smart-crop, transcription, render) as a metered HTTP API for AI agents.
These terms apply to both surfaces — the human-facing app at clipengine.app and the agentic API at /api/agent/call.
02Plans, billing, and refunds
Human plans (Free, Creator, Pro, Studio) bill monthly or annually through Stripe. Cancellation is at-period-end; you keep access through the end of the billing period you've already paid for. Annual plans are non-refundable past 14 days.
Agent API (mcpay): charges are per call and prepaid through your subscription's bundled credit (Free $0; Creator $0.50/mo; Pro $5/mo; Studio $20/mo). When a tool call fails, the charge stands — we do not auto-refund. If you believe a charge was issued in error, contact [email protected] for manual review. Refunds are issued at our discretion for legitimate operator-side failures (extended downtime, billing bugs).
Stripe processes all payments. We never see your card number; Stripe does. Stablecoin payments via MPP / x402 settle on-chain to a deposit address Stripe controls.
03What you can do with our outputs
You own the clips you render. We claim no copyright on the output — the rights flow from whatever you uploaded. If you upload someone else's video without permission, you keep the legal exposure on that.
We retain a non-exclusive license to use the clip metadata (timing, smart-crop coordinates, generated captions) to improve the model. We do not republish your clips and do not train external models on them.
04What you can't do
- Upload content you don't have the rights to.
- Render output that infringes a third-party trademark, copyright, or right of publicity.
- Use the agent API to attack the underlying tools — path traversal, prompt injection, argv injection, tool-name fuzzing, etc. We rate-limit and ban on detection.
- Resell raw API access without written agreement. Bundling our output into a downstream product is fine; reselling our endpoint is not.
05Service availability
We aim for 99% uptime but make no guarantee. The agent API is provided as-is. If the upstream MCP server is down, your tool call will return a 502 and the charge stands — see Section 2.
06API keys and account security
Your cek_live_… API keys are bearer credentials. Anyone holding the raw key can spend the balance. We store only the SHA-256 hash; if you lose the raw key, revoke it at /account/keys and mint a new one.
We're not liable for charges made by agents you authorize. Treat these keys like AWS access keys.
07Termination
You can cancel at any time via the Stripe Customer Portal at /account/keys. We can terminate accounts for repeated abuse, fraudulent charges, or violations of Section 4 with 7 days' notice (immediate for fraud).
08Liability cap
Our maximum liability for any claim is the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption.
09Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go to state or federal courts located in San Francisco County.
10Changes
We update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced via email to active subscribers and shown on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
